What we’re building
Short lessons show how each sound is made, with mouth diagrams drawn by phoneticians. When you practice, a speech model on your iPhone scores every sound you say and tells you what it heard. In Shadowing, you speak along with a native voice, very slowly at first, or with your Golden Voice: your own voice with a native accent.
We’re starting with American English. Spanish and French lessons are already written and come next.
How it’s built
Coach voices and the Golden Voice come from ElevenLabs, through its Startup Grants program. Pronunciation is scored on your iPhone by an open-source speech model, with our own grading on top.
Practice lessons are generated with Claude, Anthropic’s AI model, through the Claude API. Claude writes the words and sentences you practice, built around the sounds speakers of your language find hardest, so there’s always new material to say. We also build the app with Claude Code.
